Astro Lab is short for Inner Planets Astrology Laboratory, a group experience that focuses on in-depth somatic and experiential exploration of the inner planets in the birth chart.

What are the inner planets?

The inner planets in Astrology refer to the planets closest to the Sun. With their shorter orbit they travel through the Zodiac signs more quickly than planets that are further from the Sun. This leads to unique planetary sign placements based on individual birth date, time, and location.

The Inner Planets: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars. In the Astro Lab we also give attention to the rising sing, also known as the ascendant.

Beyond Mars, as planets get further from the Sun, they are in Zodiac signs for longer and their placements becomes less personal and more social or generational. Jupiter and Saturn are referred to as “social planets” and Neptune, Uranus and Pluto are referred to as the outer planets, or as “transpersonal” or "generational” planets. This is because most folks in your grade of school or born within the same two to three year period as you share your social planetary placement, and most in your generation share your generational planetary placement. Despite the relevance of this terminology each person’s experience of their social and generational planets and how they interact with other aspects of their brith chart, including their inner planets, is still unique and personal.

In Astro Lab, our focus on the inner, most personal planetary placements in the birth chart supports us in our goals of deepening self-knowledge and compassion for self and others.

Overview:

The focus of Astro Lab will be on building intimacy with and understanding of the archetypal energy of each of the inner planets and the rising sign as they relate to your personal lived experience.

The laboratory orientation positions each group member’s personal experience as a form of leadership worthy of validating and viewing with authority. We will use each member’s astrological birth chart and planetary placements as the basis for personal exploration and inquiry—deepening our understandings of how our various planetary placements help us understand our inner and outer experience of the world, our needs, wants, desires, longings, and paths of service. We will continually integrate how what we are learning and experiencing in the laboratory can be applied to our general understanding of astrology as well as our relationships and experiences with others inside and outside the group context.

The daily structure of our gatherings will be consistent at each meeting. Each gathering will focus on one of the inner planets and core parts of the psyche: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, or rising sign. We will begin each day with an invocation inspired by the planets followed by an open share session. Open share will be an opportunity for folks to integrate and share what they are learning about their astrological birth chart and how their lived experience has informed their understandings. Each afternoon we will have time for some combination of experiential and somatic exercises, reflective inquiry, group discussion and sharing, and prayer and ceremony. Most formal content will be shared between meetings so that our time together in the laboratory can focus on personal reflection, discussion and further somatic and experiential exploration of the planetary energies.

Logistics:

The series includes two hours of one-on-one session time with Brittany to be used at any time between registration and our last gathering in November of 2027. If you have never had a chart reading with me, I recommend you have a two-hour initial birth chart reading before our first meeting.

There will be two to three required books for this group. Sometime in January, I will be sending out a detailed list of preparatory work to do before our first gathering and between subsequent meetings which will include readings from required texts as well as prompts and invitations for personal reflection.*

*Please note that this series is designed to be experiential - while we will look to texts and "technical" astrological information as part of our preparation and to enrich our understanding, our primary focus will be on our individual and collective experience embodying the archetypal energy of each planet and our specific elemental and sign placements.

Gathering Logistics

Astro Lab meets six days in 2027, with three gatherings in the spring and three gatherings in the fall. Gatherings are held in person at the Thyme Herbal studio and gardens in Conway, MA.

Each gathering will take place on a Saturday from 9:30 - 4:30 pm. In the event of unsafe weather-related travel conditions, the gathering will be held on the same date and time via Zoom.

*Although it is unlikely, it is possible that gathering dates will have to shift over the course of the program.  Group members will be notified as soon as possible of any necessary date changes.

*It is OK for group members to miss gatherings for anticipated or unanticipated reasons throughout the session.

Registration and Payment

The program cost is $1,095. This includes six seven-hour gatherings over the course of nine months and a two-hour one-on-one astrology reading with me before the program begins. If you have had a two-hour reading with me before you can use your one-on-one hours at once or divided into two, one-hour sessions, at any point before our last gathering in November 2027. Additional mentoring is available at a discounted rate throughout the program.

 A non-refundable deposit of $285 is due at the time of registration.

Payment Plan Option:

You can either pay for the program in full or via a payment plan. For the payment plan, a $285 deposit is required at the time of registration, followed by nine monthly payments of $90, from March through November of 2027. (If an alternative payment arrangement would work better for you, please reach out.)
